The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted practice squad receiver Skye Dawson, filling the roster spot created by placing Rashaan Melvin on injured reserve. Dawson was an undrafted rookie out of TCU who was signed to the team's practice squad a couple of weeks ago. He spent the offseason with the Washington Redskins, notching one catch for 11 yards in the preseason against the Buccaneers.
Dawson managed to catch 90 passes for 1,121 yards over his college career and was the team's main punt and kick returner in 2012. At 5'9", 183 pounds he's most likely to be a slot receiver, if he can get on the field at all, that is.
Meanwhile, the Bucs will see cornerback Danny Gorrer return to practice for the first time in the regular season this year. The cornerback was injured in the first preseason after making a couple of outstanding plays and was placed on injured reserve designated for return not long after. He can return to regular season acting in week nine.
The Bucs also signed S Nick Saenz and T Emmett Cleary to the practice squad, releasing T Randy Richards.
