A week after the bakery served up some sweet revenge Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Baker Mayfield is back, with a chance at first place in the NFC South.
This game will be the second matchup of the year for these two rivals. The first matchup went wayward for Tampa Bay, as the Atlanta Falcons and Desmond Ridder came into Tampa and beat the Buccaneers 16-13, with a last second game-winning field goal.
Despite a disappointing net total offensive output (13 points), Chef Mayfield was able to cook up a touchdown and over 300 total yards— with his third highest passing yardage of any game this season against Atlanta, earlier this year. The Bucs will likely need a similar, if not better performance, from their quarterback this week to get to 6-7. The Falcons are coming off an ugly 13-8 victory against the New York Jets, where their quarterback passed for just 121 yards, with 12 completions.
The Buccaneers should have the edge, when it comes to throwing the football, in this game. Baker Mayfield has 18 touchdowns to only 8 interceptions and has thrown for nearly 2,800 yards, this season. Atlanta’s Desmond Ridder has passed for just 2,029 yards and a mere eight touchdowns, to go along with eight interceptions.
Both teams will come into this game with the slight momentum of small winning streaks, the Falcons (Winners of their last two) and Tampa Bay, defeating Carolina last week. Considering the postseason ramifications that will be at stake, fans should get to see the Buccaneers' best team effort Sunday.
Will that effort be enough for Chef Mayfield and the Bucs to rise up and take control of the NFC South?
