We knew heading into this game that the Buccaneers would be without starting cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, who was placed in injured reserve due to the elbow injury he suffered in week one against the Cowboys. With Carlton Davis nursing a hamstring problem and Murphy-Bunting out for an unknown amount of time, reports surfaced Sunday morning about the Bucs reaching out to free agent cornerback Richard Sherman to come help fill the void.
However, the Bucs wanted to take the “wait and see” approach when it came to how the secondary played against the Atlanta Falcons before talks became more serious.
That said, the Bucs are looking to their depth at corner today to help stop a potentially potent Falcons’ offense who will be without wide receiver Frank Darby.

The Buccaneers and Falcons will kickoff their game at 4:05 p.m. ET from Raymond James Stadium. The game will air on FOX with Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen, and Pam Oliver on the call. Former Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor at halftime.
