The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won two Super Bowls this millenium. The first came in 2003, and the next came in - well - 2021. Both happened near the beginning of their respective decades. The first was followed by nearly two decades of struggle and subpar finishes.
In the same time period, Dallas Cowboys players have won exactly as many Super Bowls as I have. None.
Of course, they at least had a chance. Right?
Since the Cowboys last won a championship in 1996 following the 1995 NFL Season, they’ve made the playoffs ten times. So, 38% of the time since they last won the Lombardi Trophy they at least make it to the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers made it to the playoffs just twice between championship runs, or in 18% of the seasons, they played between titles.
Now, you may be asking: So what?
Well, on the most recent episode of the Locked On Bucs Podcast my co-host James Yarcho and I were presented with a very specific question.
Given the opportunity to choose, would we rather...
a) The Buccaneers win the next two Super Bowls (giving them three straight), but are then guaranteed not to win another until at least 2050 while making the playoffs 38% of the time along the way (11 times).
b) The Buccaneers win two more titles in the next two decades - so no more in the 2020’s, but one in the 2030’s and then another in 2040’s - but they have a performance history similar to what they just experienced between these two titles; making the playoffs just 3 other times between now and 2050.
This is the question.
We debated the ups and downs of both options - and honestly got them a little mixed up along the way (ha!) - but we ultimately came to our own decisions. Kind of.
Bottom line, it wasn’t an easy answer for Yarcho and me. Maybe Bucs Nation will be more decisive. So, which path would you take for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Let us know your thoughts!
If you could, which option would you take for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

A (Three-Peat with more playoffs, but no titles until 2050)
B (One title per decade, but minimal playoffs)
