Are the Buccaneers really discussing acquiring Teddy Bridgewater?

Report suggests that is indeed happening.

Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady isn’t going to play forever. At 43 years old, the future Hall of Famer is an exception to an undocumented age rule that says quarterbacks tend to begin dropping off in their 30s. That is why it’s fair to assume the extension he recently signed may be his last.

If not, Brady is on record saying he will like to play beyond 45 and if so, how true is the latest report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports as he ties Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Bucs?

If the best trade offer for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater comes from New Orleans or Atlanta or Tampa, make the trade. Fear of trading within the NFC South shouldn’t be a factor in this pending transaction.

But La Canfora doesn’t stop there. He states that Tampa Bay is having internal discussions of potentially going after the veteran quarterback.

And I know Tampa just won a Super Bowl, and somehow managed to keep the band together, but if Bridgewater is willing to move some things around to help from a cap standpoint, then why not let him go there as Tom Brady insurance? Because it is definitely something being discussed internally in Tampa, I can assure you of that.

How sure is La Canfora about the whole situation? We may never truly know. This could be rumblings from around the league he’s hearing, sources directly from the team, or he’s just putting together some kind of pieces.

Regardless, La Canfora states there is in fact interest coming out of the NFC South. We just don’t know how interested Bridgewater will be sitting behind a starting quarterback.

Plus, Tampa Bay could be looking to develop for the future through the draft and Carolina’s 28-year-old quarterback may not be an option.
