Gerald McCoy hasn’t seen live regular season action since the 2019 season with the Carolina Panthers. After suffering a season-ending injury with the Dallas Cowboys during a practice in August of last season, McCoy has had a long road back to recovery.
The veteran defensive tackle is set to hit free agency once again and one of the teams he would love to join — again — is his former team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I would love to go back to Tampa,” McCoy said. “A lot of people misunderstood what happened between me and Tampa.”

The Buccaneers are believed to want defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh back, and Suh wants to return as well. Suh was very disruptive under Todd Bowles so there is no reason the Bucs would play their cards and change something that has worked.
That is of course if Suh is a guaranteed “want” for Tampa Bay.
But the Cowboys see McCoy as part of their plans moving forward citing “mutual interest” from both sides. So if McCoy finds himself in between the Cowboys and the Bucs during free agency, Dallas may be the team lands him — again.
Although many have suggested a McCoy/Suh pairing in the past in some fashion, that would be a pretty interesting site in Tampa Bay.
