The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still trying to work some magic to re-sign some key guys, and one of those guys is running back Leonard Fournette.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown recently said that both he and Fournette are currently working things out with the Bucs to return. The two have even been working out together in Brown’s gym. But the latest report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport suggests that it may not be so easy re-signing the veteran running back.
Despite active conversations between Tampa Bay and Fournette, Rapoport states the Patriots and others are also in the mix trying to acquire his services.
“There have been several other teams interested [in Leonard Fournette],” Rapoport said Monday. “I know publicly the Patriots have been mentioned as a possible team involved with Fournette, but we’ll see if it ends up being something that Tampa Bay gets done to try to go for two in 2021.”
Fournette was believed to be weighing options from the Bucs as well as the Seahawks. But with various reports now including the Patriots as well, it seems that Tampa Bay has some competition to bring back “Playoff/Lombardi Lenny.”
There appears to be more options to weigh.
