Despite being designated as a full participant for Friday’s practice, Buccaneers safety Jordan Whitehead’s status for Sunday’s game was still a question mark.
However, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, not only will Whitehead hit the field with his teammates for Super Bowl LV against the Chiefs, but he’ll play and play with a harness.
Whitehead will play tonight at Raymond James Stadium with a “significant tear“ in his labrum, an injury he sustained in the Bucs’ win at Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game two weeks ago.
Whitehead will wear a harness on his shoulder but will require surgery sometime this offseason.
Rookie safety Antoine Winfield, Jr., who was battling a sprained ankle, will also play tonight. He, like Whitehead, was listed as a full participant in Friday’s practice ahead of the Super Bowl matchup.
We should expect some kind of rotation in the defensive backfield to help relieve Whitehead and Winfield, Jr. throughout the evening.
