Pinch me, because I’m pretty sure I’m asleep.
Well, at least it feels that way. Because the fact that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV —IN TAMPA BAY— still seems so surreal. Even with Tom Brady running things.
Regardless, one more game means one more preview episode for The North & South Podcast, and this one is the best-yet. Kent Swanson from Arrowhead Pride joins us for this one and let me tell you, it’s a fun conversation.
One of the many topics discussed was the return of Vita Vea boosting an already solid Tampa Bay pass rush. Kent gave us his thoughts on that coupled with the loss of Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher.
“I think, the Chiefs, if you look at them recently, they’ve done a really good job accounting for a shoddy line as it is,” Swanson says. “The Chiefs did a really good job protection-wise with Mahomes (against the Bills), because they were using the RPOs a lot, which puts edge players in conflict and forces them not to be as aggressive when rushing the passer. He was getting the ball out a lot quicker, which should help him against the Bucs.”
Jason and I also discuss the latest Bucs topics and then of course, we have ‘I don’t give a Buc’, our over/unders and a special Super Bowl edition of talking spreads!
