Could one domino fall early on in the team’s offseason plans?

When the NFL’s franchise tag window opens Tuesday, there will be some big names on a list that may get tagged by their respective teams before it closes on March 9.

One of those names being Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that while both sides will be working on getting a long term deal done, Tampa Bay is expected to tag Godwin and ensure he doesn’t go anywhere.

You can check out Rapoport’s report below.

Just recently, Spotrac released their projections for the free agency period and who may land where. They listed Godwin as going to the Colts due to the impending possibility of “someone overpaying for his services.”

Tampa Bay also has decisions to make on several other top free agents like Shaquil Barrett, Lavonte David, Ndamukong Suh, Rob Gronkowski, and Antonio Brown among others. However, if the tag does get applied to Godwin in the early part of the tag period, we may get a better sense of the direction the Bucs could go with their re-signing efforts.
