Buccaneers vs. Dolphins Thursday Injury Report: Carlton Davis placed on I.R.

It’s no surprise, but things got a bit more difficult for Tampa Bay’s defense.

The Buccaneers are facing intense challenges on the defensive side of the ball, and injuries are the cause of it.

On Thursday, Tampa Bay announced that starting cornerback Carlton Davis III has been placed on injury reserve. The Bucs are already without Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean has been banged up for a couple weeks now and has been listed as limited in practice this week ahead of the matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Starting safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. is currently in the NFL’s concussion protocol and has been a non-participant in practice.

With the secondary seeing names lost to injuries each week, head coach Bruce Arians still remains confident in that unit.

“Hopefully, Jamel Dean will be back. We’ll see what he can do,’ Arians said Wednesday. “Richard [Sherman] will have another week under his belt, Pierre [Desir and] everybody else, Mike [Edwards] and Jordan [Whitehead] will start at safety if Antoine [Winfield] can’t come back. We’ll just see how the week plays out, but we have enough guys. We’ll be more than ready.”

Below is the Thursday injury report for the Bucs and Dolphins ahead of their week five game.
