The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are putting up some good offensive production while Taylor Heinicke and the Washington Football Team are giving Tamp Bay’s defense some minor headaches.
Quarterback Tom Brady and the Bucs offense have engineered good scoring drives against a good Washington defense. Brady has thrown for 209 yards on 12-for-23 passing and two touchdowns — the first one to Antonio Brown and the second to Chris Godwin. Leonard Fournette has 46 yards rushing on 11 carries. Starting running back Ronald Jones II was ruled as questionable after a quad injury at the start of the game.
On the other side, Heinicke’s mobility has give the Buccaneers’ defense some problem and has hit several targets on the run. Tampa Bay has pressured the 27-year-old quarterback which did result in an interception in the first quarter and a sack which looked like a sack-fumble but after review the referees left it at a sack — credited to Anthony Nelson. Heinicke is 9-for-17 for 123 yards passing and 23 yards rushing on three scrambles. Washington’s lone touchdown of the half came on the ground when Washington’s JD McKissic from two yards out.
Tampa Bay and Washington head into their respective locker rooms with the Bucs leading at halftime 18-7.
