No one said it would be easy, but fortunately for Tampa Bay, they are at least playing better than in the previous matchup in the regular season.
New Orleans got things going early with two field goals on their first two drives. But the Buccaneers defense made it exciting for Tampa Bay in the second quarter when cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting picked off Saints quarterback Drew Brees and set the Bucs offense up inside the New Orleans five-yard line. On the following play, Bucs quarterback Tom Brady hit wide receiver Mike Evans for a touchdown to had to their three points to make it a 10-6 game in favor of Tampa Bay.
Later on, Saints head coach Sean Payton reached into his bag of tricks when quarterback Jameis Winston hit a streaking New Orleans receiver down field for a 56-yard touchdown to put the Saints up 13-10.
The Buccaneers had an opportunity for a touchdown before the half but Chris Godwin couldn’t hold on to the football as he hit the ground in the end zone on a pass from Brady. They added a field goal as time expired in the first half to tie the game at 13-13.
