One the Bucs’ biggest battles in training camp will be the one between rookie first-round pick Tristan Wirfs and veteran Joe Haeg.

Wirfs has been running with the ones throughout camp, which makes sense considering there were no rookie minicamps or OTAs this offseason. According to Bruce Arians, everything has been going to plan when it comes to Wirfs.

“Tristan is on schedule right now – he looks pretty solid,” Arians told reporters via Zoom on Monday.

We can’t expect Arians to say something to the tune of Wirfs playing like crap if that were the case, but it’s still encouraging to hear him say that the No. 13 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is slated to start Week 1.

So far, so good. Hopefully Wirfs’ progress continues throughout the next couple of weeks.
