Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach Bruce Arians is being recognized by the Women's Sports Foundation as the Champion for Equality honoree in 2020.
For his work fostering inclusion on the field, sidelines and in the league, and for his commitment to growing grassroots participation for girls in football, the Women's Sports Foundation is excited to announce Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians as the 2020 Champion for Equality honoree.
The award will be presented with WSF founder Billie Jean King.
The WSF would go on to point out that Arians has assembled the most gender diverse staff in the NFL, being the first coach to hire two female full-time assistant coaches. The Bucs also hired a female as their director of football research, another hire influence by Arians.
Arians was also instrumental in the creation of the Junior Bucs Girls Flag Football League - the first of its kind in the city of Tampa. He also created the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation Girls High School Flag Football Preseason Classic, the country's largest girls flag football tournament.
