The NFL began releasing their top 100 players Sunday night and we saw fan favorite Lavonte David listed as the NFL’s 100th best player.

The NFL top 100 list is a compilation of the best players in the NFL, as voted on by the players themselves. The list is based on the play of the previous season and Lavonte David’s fantastic 2019 season has finally garnered some recognition.

While David has spent the majority of his career lighting up the stat sheet and putting fear into the heart’s of opposing teams, he has only made this list three other times, with his most recent appearance coming in 2016.

Despite being at the top of the list in terms of statistical production, his only previous accolades include one Pro Bowl, one first team All-Pro, one second team All-Pro, and the aforementioned three top 100 rankings.

In 2019, David had a total of 123 tackles (82 solo), one sack, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and seven passes defensed. Once again, showing the world that he is deserving of being considered on of the NFL’s best.

While making the NFL top 100 list is something that many players aspire to, the fact that David has only made the list four times definitely highlights some flaws in the selection process. However, with all eyes on Tampa Bay this season, we can only hope that everyone will finally see what we’ve seen since he was drafted in 2012.
