Well, that was fast.
Per ESPN, the NFL cancelled the Hall of Fame game between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after announcing the official, league-wide start of training camp. The Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony scheduled for August 8 has been postponed, as well.
The Dallas Cowboys-Pittsburgh Steelers preseason opener at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 6 is being canceled and the Hall of Fame's enshrinement ceremony on Aug. 8 is being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, league sources told ESPN.

It’s not a big surprise considering that the NFL has been talking about a shortened preseason for the last couple of weeks. But there’s still something to be said —in a sentimental way— about missing the game that officially kicks off the new season.
