With no live sports on television these days, many are taking to watching old games just to get their fill. There have been classic games on the ESPN family of networks, as well as NFL Network, for a couple of weeks now. But if you’re waiting to see a Buccaneers game on one of those channels, you may be waiting a while.
Luckily, the NFL is offering NFL Game Pass for free right now, so you can go back and watch old Bucs games all you want. And while Tampa Bay has been a disappointment for well over a decade, there have still been some good games from the team over the years. Yesterday, we shared a list of rewatchable games from 2009-2014. So, today, we’re going through the rewatchable games from 2015-2019, also known as the Jameis Winston era. And yeah, there are plenty of good ones here.
Disclaimer: These lists are only including games the Buccaneers won (with a potential exception here and there). Because after all, if you’re going to go back and watch an entire broadcast, you want to watch your team win, don’t you? If you feel I missed out on any good ones, feel free to drop your own suggestions in the comments down below. Now, let’s get on with it.
2015
Week 8: Buccaneers 23, Falcons 20 (OT)
Why It’s Rewatchable: This game in Atlanta halfway through the 2015 season was memorable. Jameis Winston had both a rushing and a passing touchdown as Tampa Bay jumped out to a 20-3 lead. That lead eventually disappeared and the Bucs had to win it in overtime on a Connor Barth field goal, but the story of the game was Kwon Alexander, who lost his younger brother just two days earlier. He came up huge in the game, picking off Matt Ryan and recovering a fumble while leading the team in tackles. It was an emotional one, that’s for sure.
Week 11: Buccaneers 45, Eagles 17
Why It’s Rewatchable: This was complete and utter domination for the Bucs, whose offense went OFF in Philadelphia. Doug Martin ran for 235 yards, while Jameis Winston threw for five touchdowns to tie the NFL’s single-game record for a rookie. Lavonte David added a late pick six—the fourth turnover forced by the Tampa Bay defense—for the exclamation point. The Bucs beating (and dominating) the Eagles—especially in Philly—is worth revisiting.
Week 13: Buccaneers 23, Falcons 19
Why It’s Rewatchable: Tampa Bay finished a sweep of Atlanta for the first time since 2007, thanks in large part to that wild 3rd-&-19 scramble by Jameis Winston late in the fourth quarter. That was part of a 12-play, 80-yard game-winning drive that was capped with the go-ahead touchdown at the 1:39 mark. Lavonte David then clinched the victory with an interception of Matt Ryan.
2016
Week 1: Buccaneers 31, Falcons 24
Why It’s Rewatchable: Jameis Winston improved to 3-0 in his career against the Falcons with an outstanding performance on the opening Sunday of the 2016 season. He finished 23-of-32 for 281 yards and four touchdowns, finding four different receivers for those four scores. Although Tampa Bay eventually let Atlanta back into the game after being up 31-13, this game was still a fun one.
Week 5: Buccaneers 17, Panthers 14
Why It’s Rewatchable: As mentioned throughout yesterday’s list, seeing the Bucs win in primetime feels rare. So, while this Week 5 Monday Night Football win over the Panthers wasn’t that impressive or well-played, it could be worth revisiting. Tampa Bay trailed 14-6 at one point in the second half before coming back. Late in the fourth, Jameis Winston led a 66-yard drive to set Roberto Aguayo up for the game-winning 38-yard field goal as time expired. The Buccaneer defense also forced four turnovers in the victory.
Week 7: Buccaneers 34, 49ers 17
Why It’s Rewatchable: The Bucs fell behind 10-0 early before scoring 27 unanswered points behind 513 total yards. Jameis Winston threw for three touchdowns, Jacquizz Rodgers ran for 154 yards and the defense forced three turnovers in the win, which brought Tampa Bay’s record to 3-3 on the year.
Week 10: Buccaneers 36, Bears 10
Why It’s Rewatchable: Tampa Bay snapped its short two-game losing streak with a dominant home win over Chicago. Chris Conte came up with a pick six against his former team, while Jameis Winston threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns. This was also the game that included his famous escape play, where he escaped just about every Bears defender before heaving up a deep ball to Mike Evans. Oh, and the defense forced another four turnovers.
Week 11: Buccaneers 19, Chiefs 17
Why It’s Rewatchable: The Bucs upset the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium behind four field goals from Roberto Aguayo and a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Jameis Winston to Alan Cross. That touchdown came after Chris Conte intercepted an Alex Smith pass in the end zone and returned it 53 yards to preserve Tampa Bay’s lead. This was the second game of the Bucs’ five-game winning streak.
Week 12: Buccaneers 14, Seahawks 5
Why It’s Rewatchable: The Bucs delivered another upset in Week 12, this time beating the Seahawks 14-5 at Raymond James Stadium. Jameis Winston found Mike Evans for two touchdowns and the Tampa Bay defense held Russell Wilson in check to pick up the team’s third straight victory.
Week 13: Buccaneers 28, Chargers 21
Why It’s Rewatchable: On the first weekend in December, the Bucs traveled to San Diego looking for their fourth consecutive win. They trailed 21-17 going into the fourth, but a field goal by Roberto Aguayo cut it to 21-20 before Jameis Winston found Cameron Brate for the go-ahead touchdown with 9:01 left. A successful two-point conversion try had Tampa Bay up 28-21, but the Chargers threatened late. From the Bucs’ 31-yard line, Philip Rivers looked deep and was intercepted by Keith Tandy at the 2-yard line, clinching the victory for the Bucs.
Week 2: Buccaneers 29, Bears 7
Why It’s Rewatchable: After Hurricane Irma prevented the Bucs from playing their Week 1 game as scheduled, they opened up the season with a blowout win over the Bears in Week 2. The defense forced three Mike Glennon turnovers as Tampa Bay jumped out to a 26-0 lead by halftime. It was a happy start to what turned out to be a season full of unhappiness.
Week 4: Buccaneers 25, Giants 23
Why It’s Rewatchable: This was sloppy at times for both sides, but Jameis Winston was on his game, completing 22 of his 38 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns. But things eventually came down to the wire, with the Bucs leaving some points out on the field due to missed kicks by Nick Folk. He didn’t blow his shot at redemption, though, as he nailed a 34-yard game-winner as time expired after Winston led a nine-play, 59-yard drive to set him up.
Week 11: Buccaneers 30, Dolphins 20
Why It’s Rewatchable: In a game that was supposed to be played in Week 1, things got pretty crazy. Tampa Bay led 20-7 at halftime, but Miami came back to tie things at 20, scoring on a 61-yard touchdown pass from Matt Moore to Keny Stills with three minutes to go. However, the Bucs managed to score 10 points in the final four seconds of the game to win by a comfortable 10 points. Ryan Fitzpatrick first led a 58-yard drive to set up Patrick Murray for the game-winning field goal with four seconds left, laterals on the ensuing kickoff led to a fumble that Adarius Glanton (now Adarius Taylor) recovered in the end zone.
Week 17: Buccaneers 31, Saints 24
Why It’s Rewatchable: The final game of the 2017 season was sloppy for the Bucs, but it was a breakout game for Chris Godwin. He put up 111 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown on a 39-yard pass from Jameis Winston with nine seconds to go. Winston had rushed for a touchdown earlier in the game, plus Isaiah Johnson scored a big fourth-quarter special teams touchdown. Watch it back without thinking about draft position and you might just enjoy it.
2018
Week 1: Buccaneers 48, Saints 40
Why It’s Rewatchable: Oh, boy. This game. With Jameis Winston suspended, Ryan Fitzpatrick was set to start the first three games of the 2018 season. And all he did with those starts was light the league on fire. On opening day, he threw for 417 yards and four touchdowns in New Orleans in a game that featured the most combined points in a Week 1 game in league history. This was a wild one that’s worth another watch for sure.
Week 2: Buccaneers 27, Eagles 21
Why It’s Rewatchable: Ryan Fitzpatrick stayed hot in Week 2 of the 2018 season, becoming the first quarterback to throw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns in back-to-back games to start a season. He went for 402 and four, leading Tampa Bay past the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and into first place in the NFC South. Never mind what came next. The start of 2018 was electrifying for the Bucs.
Week 7: Buccaneers 26, Browns 23
Why It’s Rewatchable: After things came crashing back down to earth for the Bucs in 2018, there weren’t many memorable moments. But their Week 7 win over Cleveland was definitely something. In a game where it felt like neither team really wanted to win, things got crazy. Jameis Winston threw for 365 yards and two interceptions while adding 55 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Tampa Bay led 23-9 after three quarters, but Baker Mayfield and the Browns eventually forced overtime. And just when it seemed like the two teams were going to trade turnovers until the game ended in a tie, Chandler Catanzaro connected on a 59-yard field goal with 1:50 left in overtime to give the Bucs a win.
Week 13: Buccaneers 24, Panthers 17
Why It’s Rewatchable: The Buccaneer defense intercepted Cam Newton four times, with three of those picks coming from Andrew Adams. It felt like no one really knew who Adams was at the time, yet here he was practically ruining Newton’s day all by himself. Jameis Winston threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns in the victory as well.
2019
Week 2: Buccaneers 20, Panthers 14
Why It’s Rewatchable: Tampa Bay bounced back after a tough Week 1 loss by beating the Panthers in Carolina on Thursday Night Football. Shaquil Barrett came through with three sacks in the game and Jameis Winston played clean football, throwing for 208 yards and a touchdown. But the moment of the game came late, when Vernon Hargreaves III stopped Christian McCaffrey on fourth down near the goal line to preserve the Bucs’ victory.
Week 4: Buccaneers 55, Rams 40
Why It’s Rewatchable: The Bucs set a franchise record for points scored in a single game against the defending NFC champions on their own field. Jameis Winston was outstanding, throwing for 385 yards and four touchdowns, while Chris Godwin put up a monster game with 12 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns. The defense came up with three interceptions, plus Ndamukong Suh iced the game with a fumble return for a touchdown against his former team.
Week 9: Seahawks 40, Buccaneers 34 (OT)
Why It’s Rewatchable: This is the only loss I felt comfortable putting on this list because this was just a great game. Plus, it’s hard to argue against the idea that this was the game that felt like a spark for the run that the team eventually went on late in the season. In Seattle, the Bucs gave the Seahawks all they could handle. Jameis Winston threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns and led a late 10-play, 75-yard drive to force overtime. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to see the field after that. But this was a heck of a game.
Week 10: Buccaneers 30, Cardinals 27
Why It’s Rewatchable: This game might be overlooked when everyone thinks back on the 2019 season. But it was a really fun one. Despite Kyler Murray’s valiant efforts, the Bucs overcame the Cardinals late. Jamel Dean, who had a rough game in Seattle the week before, came through with a clutch interception late in the fourth quarter that led to a 92-yard game-winning drive for Tampa Bay. It was also a nice victory for Bruce Arians over his former team.
Week 12: Buccaneers 35, Falcons 22
Why It’s Rewatchable: After a bad start in Atlanta, Tampa Bay rolled right over the Falcons. Jameis Winston threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns, with Chris Godwin catching two of those while putting up 184 yards. Oh, yeah. VITA VEA CAUGHT A TOUCHDOWN IN THIS GAME TOO. Plus, the Buccaneer defense was all over Matt Ryan. The unit finished with six sacks (two by rookie Devin White), a fumble recovery and an interception on the afternoon.
Week 13: Buccaneers 28, Jaguars 11
Why It’s Rewatchable: This wasn’t the best offensive game for the Bucs, but the defense took care of business. Shaquil Barrett contributed two sacks to the team’s total of five on the day, Sean Murphy-Bunting and Devin White both came up with interceptions and White scored a 14-yard touchdown off of a forced fumble by Ndamukong Suh.
Week 14: Buccaneers 38, Colts 35
Why It’s Rewatchable: Jameis Winston had one of the most Jameis Winston games ever in this one, finishing with a stat line of 456 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He helped Tampa Bay erase a 10-0 first-quarter deficit and a 35-21 second-half deficit, throwing the game-winning touchdown to Breshad Perriman from 12 yards out with 3:51 left.
Week 15: Buccaneers 38, Lions 17
Why It’s Rewatchable: Jameis Winston became the first quarterback in league history to throw for 450-plus yards and four touchdowns in back-to-back games as the Bucs took it to the Lions in Detroit. He threw for 458 and four, this time throwing just one interception. Breshad Perriman caught three touchdowns and went for 113 yards on five catches. And just when it looked like the Lions may be threatening to make it a game, Sean Murphy-Bunting (in his homecoming game), came through with a 70-yard pick six.
And that’s our list, Bucs fans. There were quite a few memorable games in the Jameis Winston era, so you should have plenty of Buccaneer football to watch in the coming weeks and months as you kill time at home. And if you missed the 2009-2014 list, you can find it here.
