Some Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ fan base is a mixed bag of emotions following the signing of Tom Brady to replace Jameis Winston as the team’s starting quarterback.
While many are celebrating the arrival of the greatest quarterback of all-time, others are mourning the lost potential of their 2015 first-round draft pick, and fearful for what the end of the ‘GOAT’ might look like with the Bucs.
A good way I’ve found for fans to find solace or support in their feelings, is by looking at the fan base losing the player they’re gaining. When Chris Baker came to the Buccaneers, Redskins fans - and some media members - wished us all good luck. No tears were shed, and the result was, well, it wasn’t good.
When Tampa signed Ndamukong Suh, we reached out to media members and monitored the fan reactions from each of his previous stops. Each of them expressed an appreciation for what Suh brought to the field and the team, despite his national reputation.
So, what then, have Patriots fans had to say? For that answer, we dove into the Pats Pulpit comment boards. And here’s what we found.

On Tuesday morning, during the second day of the NFL’s 2020 legal tampering period, Tom Brady announced via social media that his 20th year with the New England Patriots was his last.
There were 561 comments on the post accompanying the announcement on Pats Pulpit. We can’t possibly include them all here, but we can share a glimpse as to what the Patriots fan base was thinking when the news broke.

BUT, WHAT DOES IT MEAN.....?

Are the Patriots moving forward with Jarrett Stidham as their next franchise quarterback? Is it even fair to have to follow the career Tom Brady had in New England? And what does the $13.5M dead cap figure do to their prospects of putting together a competitor in 2020? Bernd Buchmasser of Pats Pulpit tackled these topics, and got more than 200 comments about the future in New England.

As Tuesday morning’s news bled into the afternoon headlines, it was followed by breaking news the same night. Tom Brady, was headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Buchmasser once again delivered the news to Pats Pulpit readers, and they had thoughts.

Pat Lane of Pats Pulpit took to writing to try and sort out his own feelings about the developments surrounding Brady, and immediately dispelled any possible rumors the quarterback was leaving for money alone.
It’s a really interesting read if you take the time to look it over, and it certainly got the comment section humming.

Again, those were just some of the responses to the developments surrounding Brady leaving the Patriots and joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
How, if at all, does seeing the thoughts of fans who have cheered him on for the past 20-years or so make you feel about this quarterback coming to lead your favorite team? As these fans did, you know where to leave your thoughts.
