The Buccaneers brass is in Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine. It’s an opportunity for coaching staffs to get a closer look a some college prospects.
Put it’s also a good place for getting good quotes from coaches, too.
Trevor Sikkema of The Draft Network tweeted an interesting quote from Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians when asked about the quarterback position. He appears to have taken the high ground when it came to answering a question on Jameis Winston. But according to Sikkema, Arians also added that he just wants a winner under center.
#Bucs HC Bruce Arians remains neutral on QB Jameis Winston. Said they’ll wait to make a decision until they see who else is available — likely meaning every possible option in free agency or the draft.

When it comes to young or old, Arians said he, “just wants a winner.”
Winston has been a part of some bad Bucs teams where when he played well, the defense were sleeping. However, when the defense played well, the former first overall pick gave up the ball as well as points.
Does this mean Arians will push for general manager Jason Licht to go hard after some potential free agent quarterbacks? Boston reports had indicated the Bucs were one of three teams that will be pursuing Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Tampa Bay has been tied to other free agent quarterbacks as well.
The window for teams to apply the tag to players begins Thursday, February 25. Will Winston be an option during that time for the Buccaneers? We’ll get a better idea what direction they will go at quarterback then.
