While we continue to churn out the latest topics for the Buccaneers here at Bucs Nation, in particular the return of our Free Agent Spotlight that includes a daily look at a potential free agent target for the Buccaneers, ever wonder what’s going on around the division? Let’s take a look at our division rivals and see what the big topic of the week has been for each fan base.

New Orleans Saints

The biggest news by far across the division this week has to be the announcement that Drew Brees is indeed returning to the Saints. There was no shortage of positive reactions and our friends over at the Canal Street Chronicles captured it perfectly in the provided link.

Speaking of Drew Brees returning, what does that mean for Taysom Hill? Hill has gone on record stating he believes he can be a franchise quarterback and Sean Payton has echoed that statement. With Teddy Bridgewater also searching for a starting gig outside of New Orleans, it’ll be interesting to see how this situation plays out.

Carolina Panthers

Over in cat town, the Panthers had some important news of their own in regards to long time quarterback Cam Newton. Newton is officially expected to pass his physical in March. There is some controversy in Carolina at the moment after Newton’s injuries paved way for Kyle Allen to take over the reigns this past season. Read more about Newton and comments from the team owner here at the Cat Scratch Reader.

Atlanta Falcons

Story lines for the dirty birds weren’t quite as exciting as the rest but there was some news none the less. The Falcons resigned both their kicker and punter to new deals. The Falcoholic had the news as Younghoe Koo and Ryan Allen reached their agreements with the team.

Player news aside, the Buccaneers aren’t the only ones slated for some new uniforms, as the Falcons await their new design set to be released in April. Quinn has spoken about new uniforms since becoming the Falcons head coach and the fan base is patiently waiting to see their new look.

That’s all for this week around the division. As free agency draws closer the news strip will continue to thicken. In this division, all eyes are on the future of Cam Newton and Jameis Winston with Drew Brees now set to return. What will the next big news be in the NFC South?
