Buccaneers becoming a popular bet

Following the money, the Buccaneers are becoming a very popular Super Bowl bet

It was certainly a tough loss for the Buccaneers on Thursday night against the Chicago Bears, but many fans - and bettors - around the country aren’t exactly deterred. In fact, they’re encouraged by what they’ve seen.

The Buccaneers are currently sitting with +1600 odds of winning the Super Bowl - sixth best odds in the NFL - and that equates to a 5.88% chance of winning. However, over 22% of bets placed on the Super Bowl winner have been placed on Tampa Bay.

Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt reached out to me ahead of the Bears game and had this to say regarding the influx of cash placed on the Bucs in recent weeks;

“With a tough but winnable game against the Bears coming up this weekend, odds of +1600 may not stick around for long. If the Bucs do overcome the Bears, oddsmakers will begin to really fear the Bucs given that they have an absolute winner under center and will be wary of the power of momentum. As a result, it’s actually not a huge surprise to see Tampa proving popular with gamblers.”

The current odds for the Bucs are pretty even across the board, except at Bet MGM where they are sitting at +2000.

Watt’s sentiment regarding the Bears game may not have come to fruition but the general idea may still hold plenty of water. If they were to knock off the undefeated Packers next week, those big money odds may begin to rapidly shrivel down, which is why we will likely see a lot of money thrown their way in the coming days ahead of the week six match-up.
