Buccaneers fans are growing restless. When they’re not arguing about the future of Jameis Winston or devouring every mock draft in sight, they’re talking about one thing: new uniforms.
Plenty of fans have wanted the Bucs to get new uniforms since, well, they last got new uniforms. When the team ditched the Super Bowl-era look in 2014, there was a lot of unhappiness. Just read the replies of the tweet that unveiled the new uniforms:
We were so excited about our new look, we couldn't wait any longer to share it with you!

Not a lot of happy people in the mentions there. And ever since, fans have grown more and more tired of the look. It mostly has to do with the digital alarm clock numbers, I think, but the general consensus for the last few years has been that Tampa Bay needs an upgrade.
People have drawn up concepts of what they want the new uniforms to look like. UniWatch even had a contest for fans to put together a redesign just a few months ago. It’s turned into somewhat of a campaign on Twitter, especially since the 2019 season ended.
But man, I didn’t realize just how many people were behind this movement. On Wednesday, I thought I’d run a poll on Twitter to gauge everyone’s feelings. I got a resounding answer.
#Bucs fans, y’all want a uniform change this offseason? @Bucs_Nation

I posted it at 12:25 p.m. and within the first 10 minutes, there were 100 votes. You can see the final percentages for yourself. It was never close. There were quite a few interesting replies, too, with some suggesting a return to the original creamsicle look or some updated/modified version of it.

So, could new uniforms really be on the way in the coming months? There have been rumors that say yes, but they’ve been nothing more than speculation for the most part. Anyone who has reached out to the team hasn’t gotten a straight answer, from what I’ve seen. And personally, I’ve noticed that jerseys at stores around town are on sale. That could simply be because the season is over, but like everyone else, I’m just taking shots in the dark here.
I really didn’t like these current uniforms when they were first debuted in 2014, but I eventually grew to be OK with them. I’ve never grown to like them more than the creamsicles or Super Bowl-era ones, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world to me if there’s no plans to make a change this offseason.
Judging by the responses on Twitter, though, there will be plenty of upset fans out there if the Bucs take the field this fall with the same look.
