NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is one of the more respected names in the media world surrounding the yearly NFL Draft. And personally, he’s one of my favorites. Which is why so many pay a lot of attention when he puts out a mock draft.
Of course, like most of us, he’s never 100% correct. This isn’t a knock, it’s a testament to the imperfect nature of team and player evaluation as a whole.
Beauty and flaw, is most definitely in the eye of the beholder. And according to Jeremiah’s eye, the NFL will collectively draft four quarterbacks in the first fifteen picks of the first round this April.
Really, it’s four in the first fourteen picks, but that doesn’t sound near as sexy. The last one goes at pick fourteen, to your Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it’s Oregon’s Justin Herbert.
Jordan Love fans will be disappointed to know he’ll be wearing blue and white for the Indianapolis Colts at pick thirteen, while Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa goes number five to the Miami Dolphins and Joe Burrow of LSU predictably lands in Cincinnati to quarterback the Bengals.
With Herbert going to Tampa Bay, Jeremiah writes,
“Teams are all over the map on Herbert. However, he does fit the profile for Bruce Arians - he’s big, strong and smart.”
Some other players frequently mentioned with the Bucs were available at pick fourteen according to this mock.
A.J. Epenesa (EDGE, Iowa), Grant Delpit (S, LSU) and Javon Kinlaw (DL, SC) were all selected later in the first round, along with USC offensive tackle, Austin Jackson.
Let us know what you think of Jeremiah’s selection for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at pick fourteen, and select the prospect below you would have selected if the board fell the way it did for DJ.
