After last week’s 20-14 road win over the Panthers on Thursday Night Football, the Buccaneers will look to make it two wins in a row this Sunday when they host the New York Giants at Raymond James Stadium. It’s Tampa Bay’s last chance to play in front of the home fans until November, and it’s an opportunity to beat up on a struggling team and its debuting rookie quarterback.
But while the Bucs as a team are looking to get their 2019 record to 2-1, there are some individuals who can inch closer to making history. Let’s see where things stand with the franchise’s record book heading into Sunday’s matchup with New York.
Career Pass Attempts
Jameis Winston passed Josh Freeman (1,967) for third all-time in pass attempts last week. With 1,983, Winston now needs 56 more to pass Trent Dilfer (2,038) for second.
Career Rushing Touchdowns
With the 10th rushing touchdown of his Buccaneer career last Thursday, Peyton Barber tied Michael Pittman (10) for 13th-most in franchise history. That left Jameis Winston (9) alone in 15th.
Winston is five rushing touchdowns away from passing Doug Williams (13) for most all-time by a Bucs quarterback.
Career Receptions
Mike Evans is up to 401 catches in his career, leaving him 30 away from claiming the franchise record from James Wilder (430).
Career Receiving Touchdowns
No one is close to passing Evans (40) for the franchise’s receiving touchdown record, but a couple of guys are working their way up in the list. O.J. Howard (11) is tied for 19th-most, and with one more, he ties Kellen Winslow (12) for 18th.
Chris Godwin has 10 in his career, leaving him tied for 23rd. His next touchdown catch will tie him with Howard, Antonio Bryant, Calvin Magee and Alex Smith for 19th.
Career Tackles (Solo)
Lavonte David is still climbing — slowly but surely — toward becoming the third-leading tackler in Bucs history. He currently has 649, leaving him 32 away from passing Hardy Nickerson (680).
Career Sacks
David is stuck on 21.5 sacks for his career, which places him 15th on the list. With one more, he passes John Cannon (22) for 14th. Two more pushes him past Santana Dotson and Lee Roy Selmon (23) for 12th.
Career Passes Defended
David is still at 38 passes defended in his career, leaving him four away from passing Brent Grimes (41) and tying John Lynch (42), who is sixth all-time.
Career Interceptions
David is one interception away from tying Jermaine Phillips and Jeremiah Castille (11) for 15th-most in team history.
Career Forced Fumbles
With 18 forced fumbles in his career, David is two away from beating out Simeon Rice (19) for second-most in franchise history. He needs seven more to take the record from Derrick Brooks (24).
Career Games Played
With Sunday being his 118th game with the Bucs, Demar Dotson is set to tie Randy Grimes for 18th-most all-time.
Lavonte David is about to play in his 108th game as a Buc, tying him for 28th with Andrew Economos.
