Bucs Nation 2019 Fantasy Outlook: Quarterbacks

David and Evan have your back when it comes to signal-callers in 2019.

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

We’re about three weeks away from the start of the NFL season, which means that most of us are only about a week or two away from our fantasy draft!

Nervous? Don’t be. David and I are here to help and get you that ring you so desperately deserve.

Last week, we discussed running backs. This week, it’s quarterbacks.

Just like last week, we will be using Fantasy Pros’ ADP board to find the answers to our burning questions that will in turn help you conquer your league and finish at the top.

What are you waiting for? Commence reading!

Who will finish the season as the No. 1 QB?

David: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs

Even if Mahomes takes a step down, he should still finish ahead of all the other quarterbacks. I mean think about it, the dude finished with 50 passing touchdowns last year.

Andy Reid allows him to do whatever he needs to do to be successful in this offense and with Tyreek Hill now fully in the picture, Mahomes should take the crown again this year.

Evan: Matt Ryan, Falcons

Ryan seems primed for a big year. On top of Julio Jones, the Falcons also return a healthy Devonta Freeman, an ever-ascending Calvin Ridley and Austin Hooper, as well as Mohamed Sanu, their slot receiver.

Add an improved offensive line to the equation and all of a sudden, the Falcons are loaded again on offense.

Ryan also plays 13 of 16 regular season games indoors. That’s kind of a big deal.

Who is currently being drafted too high?

Evan: Kyler Murray, Cardinals

I don’t get this one, at all. According to the Fantasy Pros ADP, Murray is getting drafted ahead of the likes of Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Jameis Winston, and Kirk Cousins.

That boggles my mind. I’m not trying to take anything away from Murray, but the guy is far from a QB1 in my eyes.

Kliff Kingsbury will also play a huge factor in Murray’s development and I have my questions about him, as well.

David: Kyler Murray, Cardinals

QB12 is way too high for this kid, it’s that simple.

To add more to the conversation, I’ll also add that Andrew Luck is another player who is getting drafted too early, especially considering the current state of his injury. Jared Goff is another example.

Which quarterback is being slept on the most when it comes to ADP and overall selection?

Evan: Kirk Cousins, Vikings

This guy is currently the 19th quarterback taken in standard-scoring drafts, according to Fantasy Pros. In case y’all didn’t know, he finished as a top-10 quarterback in Yahoo fantasy leagues last year.

Dalvin Cook’s return will have a huge impact on Cousins’ game, and it will be for the better. Cousins won’t have to carry the team like he did last year. He too returns all of his weapons from 2018 and has an improved offensive line, much like Ryan.

Another top-10 finish isn’t out of the question.

David: Derek Carr, Raiders

Carr is currently the 186th pick in most drafts. That’s just crazy to me.

Mike Glennon and Nathan Peterman won’t get close to taking his job, so there shouldn’t be any worry about him losing the starting job if the Raiders stumble out of the gate.

The addition of Antonio Brown - if he’s on the field - can only do good things for Carr’s game and Josh Jacobs will surprise a lot of people with his ability to have success in the passing game.

I’m not saying he will be a QB1, but he will certainly be close enough to one.

I’m not taking this guy, even with a gun to my head:

David: Kyler Murray, Cardinals

Yea I know I'm taking the easy way out on this one. I don’t care. Murray is a bad choice. Just like milk on a hot day.

Evan: Baker Mayfield, Browns

Call me crazy, which I’m sure plenty of you are doing right now, but I don’t care. I am not taking Baker Mayfield, especially if he’s going in the early sixth round.

It’s hard for me to buy in to a second-year quarterback on a losing franchise with a first-year head coach and diva wide receiver.

Mayfield will likely make me eat my words and knowing my luck, I’ll lose the championship game to the team that drafts him, but for now, I’m dying on this hill.
