- WR Chris Godwin scored his third career preseason touchdown on the game’s opening possession, capping off a 12-play, 81-yard drive that lasted 6:29.
- QB Jameis Winston went five-of-six in his lone drive, throwing for 40 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown marked Winston’s eighth career preseason touchdown. The quarterback trio of Winston, Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffincombined to go 37-of-57 for 420 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, finishing with a combined quarterback rating of 98.6. Griffin threw for 330 of those yards and one of the team’s touchdowns. He has now thrown a touchdown pass in five-consecutive preseason appearances.
- In the first quarter, LB/S Deone Bucannon – who is in his first season with the team – dropped Steelers QB Joshua Dobbs for an eight-yard loss. Bucannon now has 2.0 career preseason sacks (1.0 in 2018).
- In the second quarter, OLB Carl Nassib notched the team’s second sack of the game, taking down Dobbs for a 16-yard loss. Nassib has 4.0 career preseason sacks (1.0 in 2017, 2.0 in 2016).
- K Matt Gay closed out the first half with a 55-yard field goal, on his first career attempt. The make closed the Buccaneers deficit to 13-10 after the opening half. Gay’s 55-yarder matched the longest field goal made at Heinz Field in an NFL game (preseason, regular season or postseason, tying Mason Crosby’s 55-yarder in 2015. It was also the longest field goal made by a Buccaneers kicker in the preseason since Kyle Brindza hit a 57-yard and a 55-yard field goal in the same game on 9/3/2015 at Miami.
- RB Dare Ogunbowale finished off an eight-play, 76-yard drive lasting 4:05 to close the gap to 20-16 with 3:21 remaining in the third quarter. The touchdown was the first of Ogunbowale’s preseason career. He then scored the game’s final touchdown with 2:11 remaining to put the final score at 30-28 Pittsburgh. Ogunbowale was Tampa Bay’s leading rusher with 10 rushes for 34 yards and two touchdowns.
- TE Tanner Hudson tied for the team lead with seven receptions, recording 84 yards receiving. With 4:47 remaining, Hudson made his first career preseason touchdown grab to push the score to 30-22 Pittsburgh. The seven receptions and 84 yards both set career preseason bests for the first-year tight end.
- WR Spencer Schnell hauled in seven receptions for a team-high 119 yards receiving. Schnell had four receptions that went for 20-or-more yards in the game.
- ILB Kevin Minter and OLB Patrick O’Connor each tallied five total tackles in the game, which tied for the most by a Buccaneers player in the game. The five tackles secured new preseason career-best totals for both Minter and O’Connor.
- With 2:21 remaining, the Buccaneers defense forced its first turnover of the game as CB Mazzi Wilkins knocked the ball loose from Steelers TE Kevin Rader. The fumble was recovered by Buccaneers S Isaiah Johnson.
