The lull of the offseason can be hard to bear, but the Buccaneers have been trying to help their fans get through it with a “Meet the Rookies” video series. The latest installment is an introduction to rookie kicker Matt Gay, a fifth-round pick out of Utah.

"I want to be the best kicker you guys have had. I want to be the best kicker in the NFL. I have high expectations, and I want to achieve a lot of great things." pic.twitter.com/EpQaOei9ik
It’s a quick, but interesting look at Gay. The 25-year-old talks about playing soccer as a kid, how that led to a football career and how going to football games has been a new experience for his family. He then recalled a recent conversation with his dad, with the two marveling at the fact that his dad never would have thought that he would have a son in the NFL.
At the end of the video, the rookie talks about fan perception of him being drafted. He said he wants to turn around Tampa Bay’s kicking woes and be the best kicker in both franchise history and the NFL as a whole.
It’s more than safe to say that the Bucs organization and the entire fan base is longing for someone to break the “Curse of Matt Bryant.” Is Matt Gay the guy to do it?
