League high on Bruce Arians; not so high on Jameis Winston

According to latest updates from Mike Freeman

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Recently, Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report went around the league providing updates and thoughts on the state of each team. The summaries are relatively short, but they get to the point and some deliver some interesting insights into teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

When talking about the Bucs, Freeman of course commented on the hiring of Bruce Arians and signing of Ndamukong Suh.

“Some players say privately that Arians is already one of the best teachers they’ve ever had.” Freeman wrote.

Like Suh, Freeman dives into how the rest of the league views quarterback Jameis Winston. First, of Suh,

“...some teams believe was a remarkably underrated pickup, and, from what I hear, allowed Arians the freedom to change the culture in the building by creating a more communicative atmosphere that emphasizes instruction.”

It can’t all be good news when the team is coming off back-to-back 5-11 seasons of course, and the negativity resided in his reporting of how some around the league view Winston,

“People around the league continue to have strong feelings about Winston, and few of those feelings are positive.”

The thought that Winston has this year, and this year alone, under Arians to prove he can make good on the Buccaneers’ 2015 top-pick investment in him. And while the pressure might be heavy, and the opinions may not be all that good, Winston really only needs to focus on what he and the team are trying to accomplish.
