Tuesday was the first day of OTA’S for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and outside of Gerald McCoy and Jason Pierre-Paul, everyone else was in attendance.
One player who has gotten a bunch of praise from the new coaching staff since there arrival has been Vernon Hargreaves. The team even picked up his fifth-year option in hopes of giving the former first round pick some extra confidence.
With that being said, the first day of OTA’s didn’t go as planned for VH3.
According to Bruce Arians, Hargreaves III just wasn’t ready to practice on Tuesday.
Bucs coach Bruce Arians said Vernon Hargreaves “has to get his mind right to practice. “ Hargreaves watched from the sidelines. Asked why he wasn’t ready, Arians said “you’ll have to ask him.”— Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) May 14, 2019
In a way, you like to see this type of accountability from the new coaching staff. I can’t remember the last time a Buccaneer player sat out of practice for something not related to an injury.
For the coaching staff to make an example on the first day of OTA’s that the players better come to practice everyday prepared to work is a positive sign. Bruce Arians isn’t just trying to win a couple more games, he’s trying to win a championship and he knows what it takes to get there.
