The NFL scouting combine is being held in Indianapolis this week and on Wednesday morning, General manager Jason Licht took to the podium to address the media in attendance.
Many topics were discussed, from Ronald Jones confidence issues to Noah Spence possibly having a significant role in Todd Bowles new defense, but the elephant in the room has been the contract situation of not only DeSean Jackson, but Gerald McCoy as well.
It was reported last Friday, from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, that McCoy would indeed be back with the team for 2019. The report stated that Arians and Bowles reviewed the 2018 tape and believed that McCoy could help them in 2019. So, it was assumed that McCoy would be returning for his 10th season with the team.
Not so fast. While speaking to the media on Wednesday morning, Licht didn’t fully commit to McCoy for the 2019 season.
Licht specifically declines to say Gerald McCoy definitely will be back for 2019. Says he likes McCoy, that he’s under contract.

It is going to be fascinating to see how this roster shapes out, but don’t be surprised if McCoy is not with the team in just a couple of weeks. That $13 million dollars can go a long way in solving several issues on this team.
