Buccaneers quarterback getting some national recognition for his impressive outing

John Babiak - Bucs Nation

If you’re Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, 458-yards passing and four touchdowns with just one interception gets you a win against the Detroit Lions, and a nomination to be the FedEx Air Player of the Week.

Winston gets the nod as a nominee along with Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens and Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.

Of the three nominees, Winston had more passing yards and just one fewer touchdown than Jackson, while he and Brees matched each other with their four scoring throws.

Brees ran away with the completion and QBR rating as he connected on all but one pass on Monday Night Football, finishing with a rating of 148.9. Jackson and Winston finished their weeks with a 134.4 and 124.9 passer rating respectively.

This week is the second time in 2019 Winston has been up for the award. The last time, was following his Week 4 performance against the Los Angeles Rams, when his 385-yards and four touchdown throws helped lead the Bucs to a 55-40 victory on the road.

Fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback have until 3PM EST on Thursday to vote by going to NFL.com/FedEx.
