Buccaneers have NFL’s best trio in Jameis Winston, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin

The sum is not always greater than the value of its parts in the NFL, and this especially rings true for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jameis Winston, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin don’t present as a three-player combo which would have a 2-6 record halfway through the 2019 season, but they do. And since they do, they get an understandably lower amount of positive national press than they might deserve.

One NFL.com writer took the time to pass quite the compliment to the three Bucs however, as Adam Rank dropped a ranking of the top NFL quarterback and wide receiver duos in the league.

Not making the list, was Winston and either of his wide receivers which currently sit in the Top-5 for both receiving yards and touchdown catches. The combos that did make the list are very worthy of the honor as Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett (Seattle Seahawks), Drew Brees / Teddy Bridgewater and Michael Thomas (New Orleans Saints), Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins (Houston Texans), Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill (Kansas City Chiefs), and Matt Ryan and Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons) all ranked at the top according to Rank.

The compliment came in the honorable mentions portion of the article, as he labeled the Buccaneers trio as the best in the league, writing,

“They are the best three-person team in the NFL. Kind of like the NFL’s version of The Shield, if Wilson and Lockett are The Young Bucks of the league.”

While the distinction as having the best three-man quarterback and receiver trio won’t add more wins to the first eight games of the year, it might serve as a silver lining for fans of the franchise hoping to see a winning season in the near future.

Of course, as the second half of the year gets going this weekend, one-third of this trio still has a future largely considered to be unsecured at the moment.

Do the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have one of the Top-5 quarterback and wide receiver duos in your rankings? And how do you feel about Adam Rank placing Winston, Evans and Godwin as the best three-player combination in the entire NFL?
