The National Football League announced today that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12. This is the second career NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor (Week 17, 2017) for Godwin, who becomes the first wide receiver and eighth Buccaneers offensive player to win the award multiple times.

In a 35-22 win over the Atlanta Falcons this past week, Godwin recorded seven receptions for a career-best 184 yards and two touchdowns, including a career-long 71-yard touchdown reception. The 184 receiving yards set a career high for Godwin and marked the seventh-most receiving yards in a single game by a Buccaneers player in franchise history.

Godwin currently leads the NFL with nine receiving touchdowns on the season, while ranking second in the league with 1,071 receiving yards and tied for fourth with 70 receptions. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. Godwin and Mike Evans became just the second pair of Buccaneers receivers to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in the same season (Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, 2014). In addition, Evans and Godwin became the first pair of teammates in NFL history to each record three games of 150-plus receiving yards in the same season.

Godwin’s three games with 150-or-more receiving yards are tied for the most in the league, while he also ranks tied for second in the league with five 100-yard receiving performances, tied for second with 52 catches for first downs and ranks third among all receivers with 414 yards after the catch. His three games with multiple touchdown receptions also lead the NFL.

He is Tampa Bay’s second NFC Offensive Player of the Week honoree this season (Jameis Winston, Week 4) and the third player to win one of the league’s weekly awards, after outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 2.
