It’s a battle between two teams that entered the NFL in the same season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks both had their inaugural season in 1976 and the Bucs made history - by being the first team to ever go 0-14. En route to a 0-26 start, the Buccaneers actually lost to the Seahawks 13-10 in October of 1976.
The Seahawks lead the all-time series 8-5 with the Buccaneers having won their last meeting as well as four of the last five.
Jameis Winston has only faced the Seahawks once and is 1-0. He had 220 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception on 21/28 passing in the 14-5 victory back in 2016. Mike Evans has eight receptions on eleven targets for 104 yards and both touchdowns in that game - also his only time facing Seattle.
As for the Seahawks, Russell Wilson is heading into his third meeting against the Bucs. The Seahawks are 1-1 against the Bucs with Wilson, who has 368 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions in the two games.
On the road against Seattle, the Buccaneers are historically 2-4 with one of those losses coming back in 1977. The Bucs didn’t make the trek to Washington state again until 1994, where they lost 22-21.
In fact, after facing one another in each of their first two seasons, the two teams went seventeen years between meetings. They’ve played eleven times since 1994 and had a five year stretch where they played on another from 2006-2010.
The Bucs and Seahawks kickoff at 4:05 p.m. est Sunday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
