On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers benched fourth-year cornerback Vernon Hargreaves for what was later described as a lack of effort. Afterwards, Hargreaves stated in an interview he had been through these situations before, and knew he would get another chance to prove himself.
One day later, Hargreaves went through something he’d never been through before as he was released by the team that spent a first-round draft pick on him back in 2016. He was right about getting another chance though, as the Houston Texans claimed him off waivers and will now inherit the remainder of his 2019 contract and fifth-year option should they choose to keep him for 2020 under his rookie deal.
Of course, any time news like this breaks, fans across the football watching community come together to give their takes. And here are some favorites.

Since being a first-round pick, Hargreaves has played in 35 of a possible 57 games and tallied 165 tackles, 19 passes defended and two interceptions with his first professional touchdown coming this year in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers.
As he moves on to Houston, Bucs fans will be looking forward to a reunion with Hargreaves as the Texans visit Tampa Bay on December 21st.
