Carson Palmer believes in Bruce Arians and the Buccaneers for 2019. Steve Smith? Not so much.
Palmer was on NFL Network along with Smith and Reggie Bush during all the madness that is Super Bowl week. Bush brought up Palmer’s former coach and asked if Arians was the right man for the job in Tampa Bay;
“I think it’s a quick turnaround. I think it happens this year, I think they’re a winning team this year. I think they win at least nine games.”
Then Steve Smith piped up with a slight at the quarterback; “Even with Jameis Winston?”
“I love him and Jameis Winston together. With Bruce’s offense and Jameis’ arm, his ability to deliver the ball accurately 30 yards downfield, 40 yards downfield. You don’t throw slants in Bruce’s offense. You need to be accurate throwing comebackers, digs over linebackers’ heads, the big post. Jameis can do all that. With Jameis Winston, DeSean Jackson, Mike Evans, some pieces on defense - he’ll turn that thing around quick.
I know he’s excited. The thing I was most excited about was that he took the job. That he’s healthy enough to take the job.”
Now, Palmer may be a little off on DeSean Jackson being around as he talked about wanting to play for the Rams (despite still being under contract with the Buccaneers), but overall Palmer’s stance holds weight. Arians is going to do what Winston does best to make this team successful.
