For the first game of the season, the Buccaneers are already missing some key pieces. We know Jameis Winston is out, but he isn’t considered an “inactive” since he’s on the suspension list and isn’t officially part of the 53-man roster just yet.
Brent Grimes suffered a groin injury Friday in practice and will miss the game. First round draft pick Vita Vea hasn’t practiced in what seems like an eternity and won’t be suiting up in week one.
Here is the full list of inactive players for both teams;
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
CB Brent Grimes
DT Vita Vea
OL Alex Cappa
OL Adam Gettis
RB Ronald Jones
OL Mike Liedtke
WR Justin Watson
New Orleans Saints
WR Cam Meredith
OL Andrus Peat
DT Taylor Stallworth
DE Mitchell Loewen
CB P.J. Williams
C Will Clapp
WR Dan Arnold
It’s pretty surprising that the Buccaneers made Ronald Jones a healthy scratch, but given how much he struggled in the preseason and that his pass catching isn’t a huge factor, RoJo appeared to be expendable for this game.
Carlton Davis is starting in place of Brent Grimes.
