The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today an agreement with NIA Broadcasting to become the team’s Official Spanish Flagship Radio Station. Games will air locally on WTMP-FM 96.1 and WMGG-AM 1470, beginning with the team’s Week 1 matchup at the New Orleans Saints.
Buccaneers Legend and 10-year NFL veteran Martin Gramatica will provide fans the color commentary and analysis in Spanish. The Argentinian-born former place-kicker played six seasons with the Buccaneers (1999-2004), becoming an All-Pro, Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion.
“I have always loved the Buccaneers organization and being a part of it again is a huge honor,” Gramatica said. “I understand the importance of this role and appreciate the opportunity that comes with it. This platform will bring exposure for the Buccaneers to the Spanish-speaking community and allow a broader audience of people to appreciate the excitement of the NFL in their native language.”
Each broadcast will also feature a 30-minute pregame show and a postgame show featuring highlights and recaps on the day’s game.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide our area’s large Spanish-speaking population with the ability to better connect with our organization and receive expert game analysis from a Buccaneer legend such as Martin Gramatica,” said Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford. “Martin was an important part of our successful journey to winning Super Bowl XXXVII and he has remained a fan favorite in our community throughout the years. We look forward to hearing his commentary on what we expect to be a great season of Buccaneer football.”
NIA Broadcasting operates and/or provides services to six television networks in the United States and Mexico, as well as radio stations in both Florida and Georgia. NIA is a leading television syndication provider and serves markets around the globe with live sports, movies and TV shows.
“We cannot be more thrilled than we are today,” said Neal Ardman, President and CEO of NIA. “Having our flagship stations, WTMP-FM and WMGG-AM in Tampa, become the Flagship stations for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is both an honor and humbling. We promise to deliver an exciting quality broadcast to Hispanic fans across our network.”
