The Buccaneers have been forced to do some unorthodox looks with players such as Justin Evans moving into the slot and Jordan Whitehead getting some early looks as the team has dealt with injuries at corner. Vernon Hargreaves missed this past week’s matchup after an early injury in game one. Carlton Davis also was out leading the way for the rest of the young defensive backfield to take lead against the Titans.

Some good news came out early this morning as Vernon Hargreaves III returned to action. This is great news as Carlton Davis, Vernon Hargreaves III and Robinson all missed this past weeks game against Tennessee.

With Davis and Hargreaves back in action this morning, this means fans have a great shot at seeing the potential starting defensive backfield come week one all playing together here in the final real pre-season game for starters. Expect to see Carlton Davis outside with Brent Grimes while Vernon Hargreaves III works the slot in nickel situations.

On another note, as reporters spotted early on this morning the Bucs are missing safety Justin Evans today. Also not practicing is rookie corner MJ Stewart who has two forced fumbles this pre-season. Whitehead was also not fully participating as he’s in a black no contact jersey. With roughly 10 days left to prove yourself worthy of this roster, these last two games are crucial for the young guys to show up and show out.

We’ll keep track of the injuries and participation levels of the defensive backs as the pre-season Week 3 match-up approaches.
