Any Buc player that appears on any show or is interviewed is asked about their quarterback Jameis Winston. The reasons for that is obvious.
But as we saw on Twitter with linebacker Kwon Alexander and wide receiver Chris Godwin, players have been coming out showing support for Winston. Same can now be said about tight end Cameron Brate.
The 27-year-old appeared on “The Blitz” with Brady Quinn and Brian Custer on Sirius XM NFL Radio and came to the defense of the team’s captain.
For me, all of my interactions with Jameis have been awesome. I am pretty close with him. We hang out outside of football. I truly do enjoy spending time with him. He is caring, compassionate. Kind of a guy you want to associate yourself with as far as my experiences with him.
I can’t really speak too much to what is going on with everything else, with what else is going on with him. But that is not the Jameis I know. For me, I still love him. I think he is a great teammate. And I think I speak for a lot of guys in that locker room with that sentiment.
Heading into a season with lots of questions and doubt, having a good foundation for support is a good step in moving forward for Winston and the rest of the team. It seems like that support system is already there.
