The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that the team has released guard J.R. Sweezy.
Sweezy (6-5, 298) started 14 games for the Buccaneers in 2017, after spending his first four seasons (2012-15) with the Seattle Seahawks.
The veteran guard was signed as one of the top free agent linemen of 2016. Injuries did hold back any potential he may have had along Tampa Bay’s offensive line.
This may open the door for guard Caleb Benenoch to start with rookie Alex Cappa making a strong push.
