Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has had his ups and downs, but that may not keep him from being the franchise’s quarterback moving forward.
Joe Bucs Fan’s Ira Kaufman shared his thoughts in his latest podcast on how ownership views Winston. After reminding us all about his conversation with the Glazers some weeks ago, Kaufman talked about how ownership views their future with their young signal caller.
“I reported on this podcast that they have lost not one scintilla in Winston and still regard him as their franchise quarterback and expect to cut him a massive check.” Kaufman said emphatically. “And i think they would agree to do so.”
If you’re Winston, it has to make you feel good that you have the backing of you ownership group. After having his fifth-year option picked up for 2019, both sides can wait for this year to play itself out. But of course, he’d have to maintain his current level of performance and success at least — which he understands.
During his spot on the podcast, Winston acknowledges that he needs to do a better job at putting his team in position for more victories. He took ownership of the team’s failures as well as discuss his plans on becoming better.
