Despite the displeasure of some regarding the Bucs draft, experts continue to recognize the Bucs for a job well done during the draft.
NFL media draft expert Lance Zierlein released his draft power rankings. After the Bucs were able to trade down and acquire extra picks, Tampa Bay made some really good additions to the team and Zierlein liked the selections.
Zierlein ranked the Buccaneers fourth for the draft haul. It was the selections of Vita Vea and Ronald Jones II that he really liked.
One of the reasons that I like the Bucs’ draft so much is that they clearly had a vision to make their team tougher and they drafted accordingly. Vea is a potentially dominant interior defender, but I was also a fan of adding strong, aggressive cornerbacks like Davis and Stewart in the second round. On offense, Jones offers a slashing playmaker at running back and many teams see Watson as a potential fifth-round steal.
That what was perhaps the most intriguing part of the different. Tampa Bay — as Zierlein points out — made their team tougher and did in fact draft accordingly.
The guys that the Bucs brought in play angry and with attitude. What the team’s final two picks will eventually do (Jordan Watson and Jack Cichy) will be more of a project perhaps. But their first six selections could potentially be very impactful soon.
