Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David has been shafted often on Pro Bowls. There is always much debate among fans when comparing David to Carolina’s Luke Kuechly and who’s better.
The both of them are good in their own rights. They each have different responsibilities as they play different linebacker positions. But one thing that everyone can agree on is that they both are among the NFL’s best linebackers.
The stat geek warriors over at Pro Football Focus agree with that statement, as their ratings systems places David and Kuechly Nos. 2 and 3 in the NFL for linebackers.

People often reference pro bowls as a way to measure greatness. Looking at Kuechly’s five pro bowls to David’s one, you’d think David isn’t as good as Kuechly is. But David is at a disadvantage because outside linebackers are viewed much different because of 3-4 base defenses played often through the league.
Regardless of the argument, it’s good to see an outlet like PFF give David the respect and recognition he deserves.
