The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has signed offensive lineman Alex Cappa, the team’s third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Cappa (6-6, 305) was the 94th overall selection in the Draft, out of Humboldt State – the first player drafted from Humboldt State since 1992 (WR Freeman Baysinger, New England). Cappa set a Greater Northwest Athletic Conference record after earning GNAC Offensive Lineman of the Year in each of his four seasons with the Lumberjacks. As a senior in 2017, the Dublin, California native was also a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, given annually to the top lineman in NCAA Division II football. Cappa also earned numerous All-American distinctions, including Division II First-Team AP All-American honors as a senior.
