It was widely apparent the Bucs were needing guys in the trenches entering free agency. Thankfully, they acknowledged it and went out to get several to bolster their defensive line and offensive line.
The current regime is on the hot seat. They know they need to win and they need to win now. Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, newly acquired center Ryan Jensen said he felt that the Buccaneers are in “win-now” mode before signing with them.
“Looking at Tampa Bay’s roster, we’ve got a lot of young talent,” Jensen said. “We just signed Mike Evans back and everything like that, so I just felt Tampa, the way things are going there, that it’s going to be kind of a win-now type of a situation. And I thrive in that kind of situation.”
Jensen has it right. Tampa Bay has to win this season and they are entering this season with that kind of urgenct. After posting a very underwhelming record of 5-11 in 2017, the Buccaneers are in dire need of putting some games under the win column in 2018.
Still, there are some that feel the Bucs have to reach the playoffs in order to not make any changes. If not, well, we’ll be talking names of candidates to replace the current regime later this fall.
