NFL Draft 2018: Derwin James to the Bucs is the “worst-kept secret”

The Buccaneers selecting the FSU safety is becoming inevitable.

The NFL Draft is a huge game of chess. No one truly knows what a team’s move will be until that player’s card gets turned in. But there are times where you can try and connect the dots.

Over the weekend, I analyzed some of Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht’s press conferences for clues on which way they may be leaning. It seemed like a consistent pattern was uncovered.

That said pattern leads me to believe that the team is favoring Florida State safety Derwin James. And now, word on the NFL streets is that James will likely be the selection. This courtesy of ESPN’s Todd McShay and what he is hearing.

It seems like they have narrowed in on Derwin James. James going to Tampa Bay seems like the worst-kept secret in the NFL right now.

That’s some pretty confident wording there by McShay. Labeling the potential selection as the “worst-kept secret” proves that mocks trending towards James have been pretty accurate. Also factor in how the team was reportedly extremely impressed with him at his Pro Day, this sounds like a real possibility.

We should start seeing mocks align and picks become more consistent among pundits. But for now, this all remains a guessing game.
