Official visits are coming to an end and teams are nearing the bottom of the list of potential draft picks to meet with. That includes the Buccaneers.
NFL.com’s “Path to the Draft” has Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward featured among other college players to follow their time leading into this year’s NFL Draft. The recent edition of this feature — published Friday — reveals that Ward will be coming to Tampa this week to meet with team officials.
Yes, the consensus No. 1 cornerback in the 2018 NFL Draft continues his tour of NFL teams, but he’s close to the finish line. The former Ohio State star is expecting to make his final pre-draft visit next week with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, owners of the No. 7 overall pick.
Some mocks have been trending Ward-to-Tampa for a couple of weeks now. The big ones are from ESPN’s Todd McShay and Mel Kiper, Jr. But the top rated corner in this year’s draft has received some criticism, sparking a debate among Bucs fans on whether or not the Bucs should draft him seventh overall.
Regardless of his flaws, the Ohio State product is easily a first round pick.
