Bucs fans immediately went nuts over the news that veteran defensive end Vinny Curry was released by the Philadelphia Eagles for not wanting to take a pay cut.

Buccaneers fans wanted him in pewter. They got their wish.

Tampa Bay signed Curry the day after his release to a three-year deal, giving the Bucs a legitimate threat off the edge. The 29-year-old has recorded 22 sacks since being drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft.

While he may not look impressive statistically, Curry knows how to pressure the quarterback. The veteran edge rusher recorded 47 pressures for Philadelphia. He was ranked the 12th-best edge rusher in the league according to Pro Football Focus.

The Buccaneers entered the offseason with many, many questions on the defensive front. Their lack of getting to the quarterback placed a huge burden on the defensive backfield when the opposing quarterbacks had all the time in the world to throw.

Although Curry may not command a ton of respect as he may not be viewed as an elite pass rusher, his presence will surely be felt.
